The British National Image Library

This sub-domain of the British Towns and Villages website contains and displays images of many types from all over the United Kingdom to form a British National Image Library. There are currently 5,770 images in the library from England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and some of our off-shore dependencies and territories and they can be located and viewed in a number of different ways.

Find images by location

Many of the images in the library are also accessible by their location. Simply go to Find places in the UK and seek the location of your choice. Images are shown at the bottom of each page at Town/Parish level.

Special Collections

We have added the ability for us to be able to publish pictures about Great Britain or the British that do not relate directly to a specific location. You will find this type of image in our Special Collections which you may access using the menu on the left.
