British Towns and Villages Network

The British National Image Library

This sub-domain of the British Towns and Villages website contains and displays images of many types from all over the United Kingdom to form a British National Image Library. There are currently 3,190 images in the library from England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and some of our off-shore dependencies and territories and they can be located and viewed in a number of different ways.

Flowers, shrubs, trees and grasses - Lots more flora pictures in the dedicated Flora and Fauna section 

Military

Military transport and weaponry (Castles are in Built Env, Soldiers are in People) 

Natural Environment

All that was not created by human kind but including things altered by our presence. 

People

Who we are, what we do, what we wear (clothing and uniforms) and what we look like 

Undefined

Things we have not yet figured out what they are or perhaps not created a place for them 

 

 

Find images by location

Many of the images in the library are also accessible by their location. Simply go to Find places in the UK and seek the location of your choice. Images are shown at the bottom of each page at Town/Parish level.

Special Collections

We have added the ability for us to be able to publish pictures about Great Britain or the British that do not relate directly to a specific location. You will find this type of image in our Special Collections which you may access using the menu on the left.
